Food and Beverage Guidelines
We all want our kids to eat a healthy diet. This challenging project involved developing resources for the Health and Education Ministries for a government initiative to promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices.
We developed two folders; one for ECE centres and one for schools. Each contained three resources (a user guide, recipe book, and a guide for school principals and board trustees). Our design for these books reflected the way their audiences would use them – for example, the ECE recipe book needed to be very robust. It was printed on waterproof, wipe down, plastic-coated paper and designed in a tent card format so it could be kept on display. The resources were also designed to both fit into and retain a family look and feel.
All of the resources required an intense series of photoshoots. The time frame for delivery of these resources was extremely tight – from the hand-over of final copy at the end of May to delivery of printed kits for a ministerial launch in mid-July.
Skills include: large scale photoshoot; packaging design; pitching ideas to client; multiple stakeholder relationships; timeliness; keeping within budget; knowledge of target audience.
